Important Message from the Fire Company

Dear Borough Resident,

First and foremost the members of the Chester Heights Fire company want to express our gratitude for your on-going support over the past 70 years.

Questions and Answers regarding Donations

We have received a handful of inquiries as to why Chester Heights residents are receiving a Fund Drive donation letter from Concordville Fire and Protective Association. Titled: 2017 Ambulance Subscription Drive, requesting a $45.00 donation.

This is strictly for Ambulance Service. While Chester Heights Fire Company responds to all medical emergencies, we are not a transport ambulance nor can we provide the advanced level of care that may be required. We don’t receive any of the funds from the Concordville subscription fund drive. The fire tax which was adopted back in December 2016 is for the fire and emergency service we provide to our residents, and as a result of its adoption we discontinued our two fundraising drives.

• So what is an ambulance membership or ambulance subscription?

An ambulance membership/subscription is a fund drive program where community residents can donate at least $45 to the Concordville Fire & Protective Association Ambulance. In return those who donate receive consideration for out-of-pocket expenses from Concordville’s emergency ambulance services.

• So what benefit does a subscribing ambulance membership resident receive? 

The Concordville Fire Co. Ambulance division will automatically bill your insurance for the Ambulance transport to a hospital and they will accept insurance payments as payment in full for any emergency ambulance calls they provide to donors and their households. This saves the donor/resident any co-pays, deductibles and unpaid balance amounts that insurance does not cover. They only waive charges originating from the Concordville Fire Co. Ambulance.

• How much will that save me? 

That depends on your insurance coverage. Many residents who need ambulance service save hundreds of dollars. An Advanced Life Support Ambulance Transport typically costs about $1,100 or more.

• Do I need to contribute?

This is strictly up to the individual household, essentially this is like an additional insurance policy as stated above. This saves the donor any co-pays, deductibles and unpaid balance amounts for emergency ambulance calls that your insurance does not cover. The good part about this is your donation is tax deductible.

In any event, the service that the Chester Heights Fire Company provides has not, nor will it change. We will still be there when you need us most.

Cameron Hazlett of the Chester Heights Fire Co. is the 2016 recipient of the Christopher N. Kangas Junior Firefighter of the Year Award. The presentation was made by the Delaware County Firemen’s Association, Board Chairperson, Judy Kirby (past President) and Chief Fire Marshall, John Lloyd.

It should come as no surprise that those who are willing to run into a burning building and take hundreds of hours of emergency and firefighter training are typically not the same people who want to apply for grants, document procedures, update the website, plan events, or keep the station clean. Currently, those who wake up at two in the morning to respond to emergencies are the same people who do all the administrative and custodial tasks. If you don’t want to run into a burning building or devote hundreds of hours to emergency training, you could help us out by volunteering to do any of the following:
